Hereford Indie Food 2017: Music

It’s a lineup that’ll have you tingling in your skinny 511s.

Edwin from Foals (DJ set) - So not only is Edwin the man behind the keys of one of the stone cold coolest Indie bands still gigging - *pours one out for the Maccabees* - but he’s also a bonafide DJ, with his own deep house side-hussle with One Of The Fleet Foxes poetically named ‘DEEP SHIT’. Check out their 6Music takeover here for a little flavour:

A/several Mystery Jets(s) (DJ set) - I was one of probably about 20 people, and about 15 Young Farmers, to watch the Mystery Jets play in a barn as part of Chase’s sweet but short-lived Rock The Farm mini-festival a few years ago. It was the single weirdest gig I’ve ever been to. Those not collapsed on to hay bales by the time the band came on stage – one of the junior Chases had been generously handing out drinks tokens all day – were bouncing uncontrollably to songs they had clearly never heard before, before losing interest and sloping off in search of complex carbohydrates. The Jets were total pros, but hearing them rip through Two Doors Down in a half-empty barn was surreal beyond belief, and I am honestly impressed that any one of them was willing to trek west of Worcester again.

Matthew Horne - You’re going to recognise the face. Matt Horne wrote and starred in Gavin And Stacey and has since ditching Barry Island for the booth, he’s developed a reputation as accomplished DJ. Expect either skinny-jean shaking indie tunes or a mix of house and hip-hop.

The Spitfires – Back by popular demand, this ‘rock ‘n’ roll wedding band’ lit up the tent last year. And given that the pre-requisite for any rock ‘n’ roll wedding band is to play tunes so toe-tappingly catchy that they drag even your Uncle Dave to the dancefloor – you know it’s going to be a good time.

Discotek – Fresh off sets at El Dorado, and a couple of huge takeovers at The Venue, this local house DJ-duo are fast gaining the reputation as the best party starters anywhere with a HR postcode.
