News roundup: Herefordshire MP backs Theresa May, and former SAS soldier dies after being trapped

A round up of what's been happening in and around Herefordshire this week:

  • In a week when Gove was shuffled to the back of the PM queue and Andrea Leadsom went from who? to household name, Hereford and south Herefordshire MP Jesse Norman announced his support for Theresa May's bid to become leader of the Conservative party.
  • Two Herefordians have been honoured with France's highest award for military bravery. Bert Garrod from Presteigne was awarded the Legion d'Honneur for his part in the D-day landings, while Trevor Robinson from Leominster was also honoured. 
  • Kington Town Council declared it will fight racist behaviour in the wake of Brexit. In a statement the council said: "Residents from whatever nation are welcome in Kington and as a community we want to make everybody feel welcome".
