Get it in your diary: Hay Festival Winter Weekend

In just over a month Hay Festival’s little brother – the Winter Weekend – rolls in to the border town, turning the place in to a three-day seasonal celebration of ideas and authors.

This year, the festival triples-up with a food festival on the Saturday and a vintage festival the following day from the good people at Hay Does Vintage.

Although the line-up has yet to be announced – we expect to hear which comedians and deep-thinkers will be gracing the stages in the next week or so – it is well worth sticking the weekend of November 27 – 30 in your diary now.

Last year’s Winter Weekend featured the likes of C4’s pull-no-punches economics editor Paul Mason and Super Furry Animals biographer Ric Rawlins talking, as this year’s guest will, across three venues throughout the town.

One of those venues, Hay Castle, will also host a musical programme during the evenings for those looking to shake a leg after a day of intense sitting.

You can grab tickets here, although obviously only after the line-up is announced. We will keep you up to date on that – look out for our Top Picks on the site ahead of the festivals.

For now, enjoy one of the latest group of Hay Levels released this week (bitesized knowledge bombs from the world's best and brightest) - this is Mervyn King explaining Why Banks Fail:
