When and where to watch panto in Herefordshire this Christmas

Get your Widow Twankies out because we've festively pulled together a list of all the pantomimes playing in and around Herefordshire this Christmas.

So without further ado or shouts of He's Behind You, here are the when's and the where's.

Aladdin @ The Courtyard, Hereford

Aladdin runs at the Courtyard in Hereford from Nov 26 to January 7.

The Courtyard's in-house show has time and time again proved to be a genuinely funny family-friendly panto, with just enough tongue-in-cheek to please the anti-panto brigade. This year it's an original adapation of Aladdin, promising a cave of sparkling entertainment. Madi MacMahon, who played the bad girl in last year's Beauty and the Beast, will wear the slippers as The Genie. Book early, because it's often a sell out.

When: November 26 to January 7.

Where: The Courtyard, Edgar Street, Hereford, HR4 9JR.

How much: Tickets range from £10 to £19.

Box office: 01432 340555

The Nutcracker (live broadcast) @ The Conquest Theatre, Bromyard

Meaghan Grace Hinkis as Clara and Ricardo Cervera as Hans-Peter/The Nutcracker in The Nutcracker, The Royal Ballet © ROH/Tristram Kenton.

Broadcast live from the Royal Opera House in London, the Royal Ballet's glorious version of The Nutcracker, created by Peter Wrightin 1984, is not a panto (sorry). It is, however, the production par excellence of an all-time ballet favourite.

It is Christmas Eve and Drosselmeyer the magician sweeps young Clara away on a fantasy adventure in which time is suspended, the family living-room becomes a great battlefield, and a magical journey takes them through the Land of Snow to the Kingdom of Sweets.

When: Thursday, December 8

Where: Conquest Theatre, Tenbury Road, Bromyard, HR7 4LL

How much: Tickets are £15 / £13

Box office: 01885 488575

Kilpeck and District Pantomine Society present Aladdin @ Kilpeck Village Hall

Raising money for charity, Kilpeck's merry band of panto performers have been putting on Christmas shows since 1996 when they needed to raise cash for the village hall. Twenty years later, they're turning their attention to one man and his genie.

When: Thursday, December 8 to Sunday, December 10

Where: Kilpeck and District Village Hall, Old School House, Kilpeck, HR2 9DW

A Christmas Carol @ The Market Theatre, Ledbury

Marley (not the Muppets' version) will shape the story of A Christmas Carol, being performed in Ledbury this December.

Marley was as dead as a doornail. There is no doubt whatever about that. This must be distinctly understood or nothing wonderful can come of the story.

The opening words of this musical adaptation of the Charles Dickens' classic - being staged by am drammers The Frome Valley Community Players - set the scene for this much loved Christmas tale in which Scrooge, driven by miserliness and greed, is visited by ghosts of past, present and future.

When: Saturday, December 10

Where: The Market Theatre, Market St, Ledbury, HR8 2AQ

How much: Tickets are £6-£10

Box office: 07967517125

LADS present Cinderella @ The Market Theatre, Ledbury

The Ledbury Amatuer Dramatic Society will stage a rags to riches tale in January.

While poor Cinderella is being forced to carry out the every wish of her cruel stepmother and ugly stepsisters, Prince Charming has left to travel the world and the land of Pantomania is governed by the selfish Duke of Verucca. Bad times. When Charming's father passes away, he heads home only to find the Duke less than keen to give up the crown. Step forward Buttons, the Fairy Godmother and two henchmen called Nip and Tuck.

When: January 19 to 28, 2017

Where: The Market Theatre, Ledbury

How much: Tickets £6-£10

Box office: 07967517125

Conquest Productions' Dick Whittington @ The Conquest Theatre, Bromyard

Written by Norman Robbins, this is billed as a traditional panto which takes diabolical liberties with the true story of Dick Whittington. Of which we approve.

Less than wealthy Dick heads to London to seek his fortune. Along the way he's befriended by a cat and falls in love with Alderman Fitzwarren’s daughter, Alice. Dirty tricks by the evil King Rat force Dick to leave in disgrace but - with the help of Fairy Bowbells’ magic - he manages to clear his name only to then find himself shipwrecked off the coast of Morocco. No one said pantos were straight forward.

When: February 10 to 18, 2017

Where: Conquest Theatre, Tenbury Road, Bromyard, HR7 4LL

How much: Tickets are £13 for adults, £11 kids

Box office: 01885 488575

Kington Operatic and Dramatic Society @ Lady Hawkins, Kington

In the peaceful land of Woollycombe, King Norbert and Queen Dorothy are about to celebrate the christening of their daughter, Princess Aurora. When evil fairy Carabosse finds out she's not been invited, it all gets a bit... intense. Pricked fingers, cursed slumbers and happy ever affairs ensue.

When: February 16-18, 2017

Where: Lady Hawkins' Community Leisure Centre, Church Road, Kington

Box office: 01544 231303 and 01544 231501

Hereford Amateur Pantomime Society's Cinderella @ The Courtyard, Hereford

Last but by no means least, the late arrival to the panto party is Hereford Amateur Pantomime Society with their staging of Cinderella, timed perfectly to coincide with the February half term.

HAPS prides itself on being a fun, friendly group of dedicated volunteers who perform an annual pantomime to raise cash for local good causes. To date the group has raised a whopping £60,000+ for charities. The chosen charity for 2017 is Crohns and Colitis UK.

When: Februray 15 to 18, 2017

Where: The Courtyard, Hereford, HR4 9JR

How much: Tickets are £13 for adults, £11 kids
