Half century celebrations at Westfields FC

Westfields launch into their 50th season with a new allpay sponsored kit and thoughts of promotion on their minds.

Last year Westfields announced a new three year deal with their main club sponsors allpay Ltd ahead of this year's half-century celebrations.

The Whitestone based payment solutions company have backed Westfields for more than a decade and their stadium is known as allpay.park.

Westfields’ chief executive Andy Morris, the club’s only secretary since its formation in 1966, said: "The 50th anniversary is going to present some exciting times with the club, particularly our celebratory dinner on Saturday 26th November but we also have planned a bumper Sportsman’s Dinner on 6th October when Ron Atkinson, the former Manchester United and Aston Villa manager, will be our guest speaker.

"We are also planning other events for sponsors to celebrate this fantastic occasion and we believe also that we have got exciting times ahead on the pitch as both our Midland Football League team and Hereford County League team, along with our junior section, have all begun pre-season in a very positive and exciting manner”.

Mr Morris described the sponsorship of allpay as a remarkable partnership which began with the company's founder and managing director Tony Killeen originally sponsoring the Westfields ground in 2004.

From there the partnership developed as allpay became Westfields' main sponsor.

"Allpay and Tony Killeen have been a major reason behind the success of the club over the last 12 years as we have had so much support from allpay to enable us to develop the club both on and off the field," said Mr Morris.

"We as a club have also been able to give allpay a wide name awareness both locally and nationally through our success in not only the midland league but in the FA Cup and FA Vase.

"The partnership in this successful sponsorship arrangement is that allpay take an active part in the club and attend our sportsmans dinner, our golf day, and matches.

"Without doubt this is one of the most successfull sponsorships between leading organisations and long may it continue as both Westfields FC and allpay are ambitious to move even further forward in their respective fields."

Tony Killeen said: "We at allpay are very proud to be their main sponsor and I having nothing but respect for Andy Morris and all the guys at the club."

The club's ambition of going up, boosted by this week's 4-0 Dennis Hartland Memorial Trophy victory against Monmouth Town, should be easier due to the promotion last season of near-neighbours Hereford FC. Westfields should also be helped by the acquistion of Hereford FC's former spring-heeled winger Sirdic Grant. IMG 4920 2

The Ghanaian, who studies at Hartpury College in Gloucestershire, signed up to play at allpay.park following restrictions with his visa which means he cannot play above the level Westfields are currently competing at.

"I'm happy to be here because I think we will do well this year," said Sirdic, who is known at allpay.park as 'Sid'. "The pitch is good to play football on too."

Looking back on last season which included a Wembley appearance in the FA Vase final, Sirdic said: "It was great playing in front of 3-4,000 people every week and to play at Wembley was a dream."

The next challenge for him and Westfields comes on Saturday with a FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round tie at Stourport Swifts.
